What do you want to discover today?

The Arber

Discover our local mountain and find your personal favourite spot at a height of 1.456 meters. You can reach the summit using the 6-seater cable car of the “ArberBergbahn”.

Athletes and sports enthusiasts will have a great deal of hiking trails at their disposal. At the top, you will be able to explore the Aber chapel, the Richard-Wagner-head as well as the radar towers, no matter the weather. The view will be gorgeous at all times!

During winter, the great Arber is ideally suited for skiing and snowboarding. It is considered one of the snowiest and most modern ski resorts in Germany.

The "Schwellhäusl"

A traditionally Bavarian hut and restaurant embedded in untouched wilderness. The Bavarian Forest national park wants to “let nature be nature” - its unique landscapes shows nature thriving without any superficial influence. You will be able to reach the Schwellhäusl via plain, smooth lanes made of sand or by hiking over hill and dale for several hours.

Afterwards, the Schwellhäusl offers delicious refreshments. Its menu offers quaint light meals, Bavarian delicacies, sweet desserts and much more.

The "Hausberg Falkenstein"

(local mountain)

From the „Zwieslerwaldhaus“, the long-distance trail „Goldsteig“ leads over the „Rucowitz Schachten“ up to the Small Falkenstein and the Large Falkenstein. Both mountains offer a wonderful experience in untouched nature. The shelter on the Great Falkenstein was rebuilt in 2019: modern architecture meets great views up to the Alps. Furthermore, the shelter has excellent cuisine for hungry hikers. When the weather is good, the three pinnacles protrude above a cloud band. Experienced hikers can venture down the „Höllbachgspreng“. The „Höllbachgspreng“ is a gorge in a jungle area with a beatiful waterfall. Experience untouched nature that you would only expect in Canada.

The Wildlife Park Lohberg

Look at the animals wandering about in the Bavarian Forest up close – the Lohberg wildlife has lynxes, elks and many more animals in its care. Their goal is for visitors to observe and learn about local species in their natural environment.

You can explore the park using a pleasant, accessible circular route of about 1,5km. Adjacent to the entrance is a petting zoo where you can approach and pet goats and rabbits alike. Feeding them is permitted as well. The wildlife park is open each day all year round.

Zwiesel

The glass blowing town „Zwiesel“ is approximately 11 km away. It offers various shopping places and places for meals and refreshments. We recommend the centrally located Greek restaurant "Pallas". The largest crystal glass pyramid in the world awaits you on the grounds of the Schott glass factory. In addition, there is an in-house factory outlet on the railing, as well as an outlet from various fashion brands and a porcelain factory. The lovingly designed city park invites you to take a walk. On Saturdays you can buy inexpensive local products at the farmers market. By the way, Zwiesel can also be reached on foot in about 2 hours via Rabenstein. There is a bus connection for the way home.
